József Rippl-Rónai Memorial Museum
The Villa Roma was once the home of the world-famous painter, Rippl-Rónai. The villa today is a museum, decorated with the painter’s own furniture and eighty paintings, showing how it looked originally. Display cabinets guard the artist’s decorations, fine art objects, paintings, personal belongings, documents. In his studio you can still witness his easel and painting gear, on the walls there are many pastels and several documentary photographies.
Lake Deseda
One of the longest artificial lakes of Hungary (8 km/5 miles), is a favoured site for recreation and fishing of the residents and tourists. In the Arboretum of Deseda you can see many botanical uniques, and almost all of the Hungarian tree species.
Szenna open-air museum
Some 10 km far from the hotel, you can find Hungary’s first Europa Nostra prize winner open air museum, where there is a hundred years old inner-somogy rural environment built, with wooden houses and many articles for personal use.
Patca
Patca is located next to Szenna, among the hills of the Zselic. The child-friendly Katica Tanya (Ladybug Farm) is ideal location for family recreation, with 40 kinds of domesticated animals and 50 programs.
Igal
One of the most favoured spas around Kaposvár, with it’s 81 celsius degree water rich in alkali-chloride-hidrogencarbonat and iodide, is suitable both for bathing and drinking therapies.
Bőszénfa
The small village in the middle of the Zselic hills hosts the Game Farm of the University of Kaposvár. The farm, located on 1300 acres, is a rich habitat for red deer, fallow deer, roe deer, wild bore, moufflon. Along the game there can be seen ancient hungarian domesticated species like the grey cattle, racka sheep, horse, donkey, goat and water buffalo.
Hencse
A village that hosts a holiday resort and golf club famous throughout Europe. The park is a nature conservation area, where you can find the country’s largest, 400 years old yew tree.
History and recreation
Lajos Kassai is the founder of the modern horseback archery. In 15 years he established the rules and training system of a new sport, based on ancient hungarian martial techniques. He has followers all around the world, visiting his horseback archery compound next to Kaposmérő.
